THE INVISIBLE CRIME.

"We are all slaves to someone or something in this world"
~Ondivow Photography~
Imagine of a world without casual workers, you wake up one morning rush to your shoe shiner and find him not there, walk down to a cafeteria for breakfast and realize that there is no one to serve you, so you decide to go to work hungry. Because the previous night your car had a puncture, so you decide to go and board a public transport, on reaching the bus stop you realize that all drivers went on strike, with no option left decide to go on foot. Another incident, your office gate is open and the gate keeper is not there and non of your workers is around too, immediately a text message from the ministry of labor comes to your phone indicating that all casual workers will be on strike for the next six months, what will you do?  That is when you will realize that you are nothing without these characters around you.
It is sad to say that most people living in the urban slum and rural areas are slaves to their employers without them knowing."

You are whipped or abuse in anyway because you accidentally broke a work equipment and you don't complain or report  then you are being slaved.

Medical attention. Subject to subsection (2) every employer shall ensure the provision for his employees of proper medicines during illness and (if procurable) medical attendance during serious illness, and shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that the illness is brought to his notice as soon as reasonably practicable after the first occurrence thereof.

Crossing rivers for your employers and yet they can't cross a bridge for you should not be supported at all time.

Most casual workers work overtime without complaining for a compensation for the extra working time.In accordance with the Employment Act 2007, employer may set working hours in such a way that the worker gets a day off in a week. An employer is required to pay at least 150% of the wage if overtime work is performed during normal working hours. Overtime payment for the workers that are not employed on hourly basis, is calculated on the basis of the basic hourly rate of at least one two-hundred-and twenty-fifth of the employee’s basic minimum monthly wage.

You should know your value as a worker and you will earn from it massively.

It is your right to raise any complain when you feel that you are being enslaved at your work place.

You are paid peanut salary yet you are making millions of shillings for you employer and they don't endorse you then you are a slave.

This fear always comes when you don't want to loose your job, you are thinking about your family how they will eat , go to school how you will pay your rent and many more needs.
I always say that when you lay a good foundation in your career or whatever job specialization you are doing then your bosses will always pay some little respect to you.

Respect all workers because they are human beings too, they need to rest and food to eat, never over work them if you need them to work for long and do a proper job for you.
And according to Kenyan constitution, every employee shall be entitled to at least one rest day in every period of seven days.

The Constitution of Kenya prohibits forced labour. The Act prohibits all forms of forced or compulsory labour. A person who contravenes the provisions of this section commits an offence and shall, on conviction be liable to a fine of at least 500,000 shillings or to imprisonment for a term of at least two years or both.

Never allow them to take advantage of your background, either when you came from poor or disabled  family.

You should know the difference between being a loyal and a slave worker.
Every captive is a person; every survivor has a story. It's time to show the world that slaves exist among us. Restaurants and fields, construction sites and brothels, suburbs and cities: all are home to victims of trafficking in Kenya and abroad. Twenty-seven million slaves in the world, and we want to find them.

Never show your employer that you are desperate for whatever job they are offering you, or even show them that you are at their disposal. Because when you do that I guarantee you they will take advantage of your kindness for weakness and will always joyride on you.
